As a highly energy efficient and eco-friendly product, it was quite natural for Wingo to do the proof of concept in the European market with a company that shares similar values. One of the companies that showed strong awareness of the environmental problem with electrical and gas outdoor heating is the member of the AmRest group: Starbucks.
For the proof of concept, we decided to work on several Starbucks locations in various geographical locations inside of Poland: from Krakow in the south to Gdansk in the north. A variety of locations ensured different weather conditions, which would ensure the quality of the data for the testing of Wingo tables.
Choosing Poland was a natural thing to do for Wingo, because Poland is, as we all know it, very cold during the winter season 🙂
Massachusetts Institute of Technology EF CEE
After being elected as the best three tech start-ups from Central and Eastern Europe by MIT Enterprise Forum CEE, an equity-free startup acceleration program affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, our Wingo table officially started the proof of concept with Starbucks during the winter season of 2021/2022.
We first delivered dozens of tables to the Starbucks location in Krakow, where we were introduced to the “coffee tasting ceremony” by lovely Starbucks employees. Little did they know that our CTO does not drink coffee, and drinking various types of coffee in a short amount of time was a bit shocking for his body, but we have to declare that this ceremony gave him, much-needed, energy for the rest of our trip through Poland!
Travelling with Wingo across Poland
We continued our trip and delivered Wingo tables to Starbucks locations in Warsaw, Poznan and Gdansk too. We were followed by various weather conditions: from -10°C with snow blizzard and tremendous storm, to surprisingly warm +7°C weather without clouds!
Spending Christmas eve in Warsaw and New Year’s Eve in Gdansk, we really got an opportunity to familiarize ourselves with polish traditions, history, society and their beautiful cities. Especially Gdansk! During the winter holidays, it looks like a city from a fairytale.
As big science and technology enthusiasts we did not miss the opportunity to visit the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, Poland. It contains over 450 interactive exhibits that enable visitors to single-handedly carry out experiments and discover the laws of science for themselves. Very cool, Poland!
Users love Wingo
The holiday season happens to be a great opportunity for Wingo because we could have directly seen not only the reactions of locals on Wingo tables but people from various demographic backgrounds. Users from Venezuela, Canada, Saudi Arabia, China, France, Ukraine, Finland, South Africa, India, Germany, etc., had an opportunity to try the Wingo table for the first time and express their opinions.
As a creator of Wingo, we were expecting positive feedback, but the percentage and amplitude of the positive feedback surpass all our expectations: users adore Wingo!
Thatswhy we have recorded some of the reviews and uploaded them to our official WINGO YOUTUBE CHANNEL, and we suggest you watch it to understand the genuine experiences of using the Wingo tables.
Survey and Statistics
During the winter season, Starbucks locations in Krakow, Warsaw, Poznan and Gdansk have been using Wingo tables. This was an opportunity for the survey of user experience in given Starbucks locations.
The survey was done with the external team of the different surveyors on a group of >500 users of various demographics. Weather conditions included wide variations with respect to wind, humidity, precipitation and temperature, while temperature varied between -10°C and +10°C.
The grade averaged over all subjects, in the given time period and in various weather conditions and geolocations in Poland, is shown to be 4.6 out of 5.0. Which are amazing results taking that most of the locations were outdoor and without any kind of serious wind, rain or snow protection.
The questionnaire results also showed that general awareness of the need for energy efficiency and eco-friendly solutions among Starbucks customers is remarkably high (4.7/5.0) which indicates a willingness for accepting new eco-friendly concepts in outdoor heating solutions, such as Wingo table.
Winter is coming 🙂
Having all these user reviews and numbers, amazingly positive feedback from customers and successful implementation of the proof of concept with Starbucks, we are ready for the winter season of 2022/2023!
